Close of blog
Well the reunion didn't happen. I sure wanted to go ahead and have it but everyone didn't think that was a good idea with daddy being in the hospital. I think it would have been ok, he wasn't going to be able to be there anyway even if he hadn't been in there. I just wanted mama to be able to see everyone because she can't go anywhere right now. I will close out the blog now.
Here is the picture of the cake we were going to have. It sure was good but felt kinda weird eating your relatives...
Everyone take care.

2 Weeks and Counting
Well it's nearly reunion time again. I sure hope I have done everything that I am supposed to be doing. If not I guess we will figure it out when it gets here.
Everyone should be getting a letter in the mail today just to remind you to bring a dessert, lawn chairs, fishing license if you want to fish and a big appetite. I think there will be plenty of food. I know a lot aren't coming.
They just stocked the lake last week with 600 nine inch catfish. I told the guy that was just in time. There will be prizes and drawings this year, so come all rested up and let's make the day of it.

Hotel Room Rate Update
Ok, I got all my calls back today and here's the rates:
1) B/W Windsor Inn- $69.99 per room (up to 2 adults) Children 12 & under free. (806)762-8400
2) Red Roof Inn- $69.99 per room. I think I can still squeeze a little more out of them if I can tell them we are having maybe 6 or 7 rooms. (806)745-2208
3) Holiday Inn Park Plaza- $99.00 per room. I need to tell them if we will be having several in order to get this rate, so if you already have a room there just keep your reservation and I will get them to change the rate later. Don't cancel it because they said they only had like 25 rooms left for the 17th because the Texas National Guards are here or something. (806)797-3241
Call me at (806)745-8612 or email me and I will make them for you or you can call them and tell them Julie Polk had told you the rates. I would like to be able to tell them something by Friday if any of you know or if you think maybe, I can go ahead and get them to hold them and we can cancel later if we need to.

Hotel Info
Neenie and I went out tonight and looked at some of the hotels FYI.
1.) Best Western Windsor Inn-54th and I-27. She quoted me $79 and $89 for the rooms on the phone, but when I went over there to look at them she said she could probably do better than that, so I am waiting to hear back from her. Rooms are pretty nice but I thought they were small. Indoor pool with hot tub, exercise room, business center, wi-fi, microwaves and refrigerators in room, and FULL breakfast. Not bad for the price.
2.) Red Roof Inn-I-27 @ Loop 289. She quoted me $74.99 per room but will call me tomorrow and let me know if she can give better rates. It's an older hotel, that has changed names a few times. The rooms are ok. Microwave & refrigerator, wi-fi. Nice lobby, with indoor pool. Continental breakfast. Lounge in lobby, but it is currently closed undergoing renovation and she wasn't sure if it would be open by Oct. 16. Pets welcome @ no charge, they only ask that you put them in their crates when you leave your room.
3.) Holiday Inn Park Plaza-Loop 289 @ Indiana. This is the closet one to my house. Very nice.
Rooms $109 (dbl) and $119 (king). I am calling tomorrow to see about better rates. The girl at the desk couldn't quote any lower rates. The rooms are very large. The one with king bed has a sleeper sofa also. Only drawback was no microwave or refrigerator in room. Huge atrium area with indoor pool, exercise room, bar. Wi-fi in rooms. Restaurant in lobby, (not included in room price). Best location. I would definitely stay at this one. Just hope she will cut us some slack on the rates. I think she will because there is not a Tech game here that weekend. Cancellation time 6pm on date of arrival.
I will post more on rates in the next few days after I get all of my calls back. I just wanted to go look at the rooms for myself because I hate to tell someone that a hotel is ok unless I've seen the rooms. I have seen some real doosies (sp?) before and I would hate to say they're probably ok and then it end up being ghetto-ville...
Please email either myself at: leejuliepolk@aol.com or Jackie at: Jackeduns@yahoo.com

Reunion plans are on track
Everything is on track for the reunion. We are having prizes for several things. Hope the weather is nice. It is so hot here right now. Sure hope the lake doesn't dry up. I can't believe the geese have already started showing up at the park as hot as it is. I'm sure there will be plenty here by October. Neenie loves to look at them and I hate them.
I have a request. If you look at this website would you sign up as a follower? We are trying to see if anyone is checking this. It is really easy to do. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can.
Hope everyone can come, we are planning on making this an all day deal so get plenty of rest and be ready to party...

Directions to McCullough Park
Here is a Lubbock area map to the park. Once you get to South Loop 289 you will go South on Indiana to 87th Street. Turn left (east) on 87th (the only way you can turn) and it will take you right to the park. At the park take a left around the curve to the covered shelter. You can also take South Loop 289 to University. Go south on University to 82nd Street. Right (west) on 82nd to Fremont (there will be a traffic light here). Left (south) on Fremont and it will run you right to the park shelter. Hope these directions are simple enough. If not you can always go to http://www.mapquest/ .com or call me at (806)745-8612. If you click on the map, it will enlarge so that you can see it.
